A few daily delights.

A double blog post day! That never happens! I had such a bad case of the Mondays this morning – chalk it up to a weekend that was overwhelmingly busy, and also to the fact that I wanted nothing more than to stay in bed and/or watch the Olympics all day today instead of coming to work. Little things that made me crazy-happy today:

-Instead of my usual hot coffee this morning, I brewed a coconut K-cup last night, refrigerated it, and added ice cubes this a.m. for homemade cold press. So summery and so refreshing!

-I’ve gotten very into weird flowers lately…my snapdragons of a few weeks ago finally had to go, and my bridesmaid bouquet from Eva’s wedding is just starting to wilt. I made a Bachman’s run after work and picked up a few succulents, a plant for my desk at work, and more snapdragons. They make me happy, and they're weird and lovely and fun.

-I went through and finally synced up my arts calendar for 2016-2017 the other day at work, and spent a chunk of my lunchtime adding it all to my Emily Ley planner. With thirty ticketed events in the next 52 weeks, I’m looking at spending a lot of time in theatres, and I cannot wait. (Jury is still out on Emily Ley versus Erin Condren…stay tuned!)

-The happiest, most perfect cards that were binge-purchased at Papersource for a plethora of friends with big life events coming up. Weddings, new houses, engagements, babies, oh my!

-One of my favorite workout hacks is to park the iPad on the treadmill at the gym and watch Netflix while I do hill intervals. Newest obsession: “Last Chance U,” a Netflix documentary series following the East Mississippi Community College Lions football team. I’m a sucker for a good inspirational sports story, but this folds in race, poverty, crime, and corruption in an absolutely riveting way. Plus it’s filmed beautifully. Expect to hear more from me as I get deeper into it.

-And of course THE OLYMPICS. I met up with Hal, Nate, and Margaret last night for drinks and watching at Brit’s, and we were totally those people at the bar who got way too into it…especially Conor Dwyer’s first-place finish in the semis of the 200m freestyle. Hal and I made it home in time to watch Katie Ledecky’s record-smashing finish in the 400m freestyle, and I’m not going to lie, I totally cried. AND THE RELAY. I can barely handle Ryan Held's heartfelt tears on the medal stand. Can anything beat the pageantry and sheer humanity of the Olympics? I think not. (Plus, I’m totally crushing on our women’s gymnasts. Those leotards last night were ON POINT.)

Here’s to a happy day of overcoming little grumps and making a Monday something to smile about. :)
